I am never sure if I should open 1NT with a 5 card major. I know the robots don't but sometimes it works well sometimes it works badly. Today I decided I was too good for 1NT - opponents passing through out
S:xx H:AKQxx D:K97 C:KQx
1H 1S
2NT 3D
3NT 6S
3NT is the perfect place to play this contract. The robot had
S:KJxxx H:x D:AQxxx C:xx
It has heard no support from me for spades, it is missing 2 aces and never checked, it never mentioned 5 diamonds only four.
I had a good round going
Do people do anything with these comments? Too often the robots go to six in this way when if they checked for aces they would find they are missing two.

It did it to me tonight, too. I don't remember the whole auction, but the bot raised me to game in ♥, I cue-bid 4♠, and the bot bid RKCB and put me in slam.
I had ♦x and ♣Qx, and the bot had ♦AQx and ♣xxx. I had a tiny bit of hope when LHO led a ♦; if it was away from the K I could pitch one of my clubs. But the finesse lost and I was down 2.
All it had to do was cue 5♦ and I'd sign off. Although since GIB only cue bids 1st round controls, we still could have been missing slam if it had ♣K instead of ♦Q.

Hi, Jane! Long time, no see!
GIB's explanation of the 3NT bid includes "2-3 S"; I think this bid should deny 3S. Maybe GIB would do something different if he agreed.

I have to vent because he did it again tonight. I placed a slam with a 7 card suit to the AKQ and he decided he would rather play it in his 4 card suit to the 9

Jane: GIB's explanation of your 4N is RKC in ♥. He thinks this sets ♥ as trumps, and you will never un-convince him of this. Don't jump to 4NT with GIB unless you are good with setting the suit the way he thinks it's being set.

in the original post i also think that 2nt may have given false info on point count although I dont remember exactly what it would be.

GIB expects 18-19HCP for the 2NT rebid. (Personally, I think that should be 17-19 with a 1NT rebid being 12-16, but this is beside the point.) This does not in any way invalidate Jane's original point that 18-19HCP plus 10HCP leaves plenty of room to be missing 2 aces, so GIB shouldn't blast to slam without checking.
