Say West opens 1, North bids 1, East 1 (anything better?), South bids 2. Later on, South will bid 3 and North 4 if they can. What contract would you and your pd reach?

How would you play 4? How would you play 4? Diamond lead and continuation, of course.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

I guide myself mainly by the number of trumps to compete, I'd bid 1, west would support double, and since we don't know about the spade fit, there is no reason to bid to the 3 level, so 3 is likelly the final contract.

east might decide to compete up to 3, slow tricks and high ODR combined with a very likelly 9+ fit of the opponents, but ruffing in the long hand and having a bad suit is not very good. So I am not sure what I'd do.

No way I'd reach game.

Probably, especially at pairs, the opponents would be doubled in 4D and our side would defend.

A negative double is fine with 4-5 in the majors. I can reverse flannery (2) over 1 so that I'm covered 5-4 also. Game is iffy, but I think we'll compete to 3 and smack 4.
