If you look at your own profile in the web version, what does it say for "tournament completion rate"?

Web client shows your own stats when showing your profile. It is a new feature, few weeks.

click on your name in the top right position and a dialog appears.
At the bottom end of the dialog, there a button with something like "view profile" on it.
klick there and you get your own profile.

Another way to see your own profile:
Kibitz some table, show kibitzers and your name will be in that list. Now you can view your own profile just like any other.
Note that it is likely that you will see "Tournament completion rate: Unknown". This means that you have not played at least 10 tournaments in the last month (and will be rejected from any tournament requiring any completion rate at all - bummer).

That's going to be a 'bummer' for an awful lot of people, I think. A great many folk just play the occasional tournament, or perhaps have one or two regular weekly dates, and will never accumulate 10 in a month, ever.
Something like "most recent N tournaments, or those played in the last M months, whichever is more" may perhaps be more suitable.

Currently, tourneys that, if you leave early, would not affect your Partners/Oppos immediately (except in the sense that your leaving early may result in one less score comparison), do not count for or against your Tourney Completion Rate.
So the Robot Tourneys that allow you to leave because it doesn't affect oppos wouldn't count for or against you.
ACBL human tourneys would count.
ACBL robot tourneys also count.
Express tourneys would count, even if you happened to be at a table with 3 robots, because usually it's more of a "human" tourney.
Uday's succinct summary is, anything with host "bbombadmin" does not count. Everything else counts.
Being a sub and completing the tourney would give you a +1
Being a sub and being swapped out would not count for or against you
Being a sub and abandoning the tourney as a sub would count as a -1
You do need 10 completed tourneys in a rolling 30 day period. The BBOers who play a lot of the human tourneys have no problems making this requirement. Those of us (me included) who prefer playing robot tourneys have more problems making this requirement to join a tourney with TCR.
This is still new to us, and feedback.suggestions on how to tweak this (constructive please!) is always welcome.
John Nelson.

And then there are those of us who don't care at all about robot tourneys and like to play about 1 human tourney per week...

I've just been told via email from BBO support that this information is incorrect. Relying on this information I entered and completed 10 paid express tourneys. Note that these are listed as hosted by BBO, not bbombadmin. Besides all the time registering for and playing these tourneys, there was a lot of time registering and waiting for express tourneys that were cancelled due to inadequate registration. All told I probably spent about 10 hours in an attempt to establish a completion percentage.
At the end of all this I thought I'd earned my way out of purgatory, but the next day, and the next, my completion percentage still appeared as "unknown." So I sent a message to support and was told that express tourneys don't count. You can't get into the free express tourneys without a completion percentage, but you can't establish a completion percentage by participating in the paid ones.
Most websites do their best to welcome new people and make them want to stay and actively participate. I respectfully suggest that this policy runs in the opposite direction. If you're new, you're a second-class citizen. Establishing an account and spending money doesn't help. The only way to get into tournaments you want to enter is to enter at least 10 that you don't want to enter. It's a wonderful system for tournament directors but frustrating and frankly insulting to new users and occasional users.

It looks like you have found a bug, thank you. BBO tourneys (as opposed to BBOmbadm) are supposed to count.
Some currently count for you, but a few are not counting, and we need to figure out why. You need a few more tourneys as a result of the non counting (bug) BBO tourneys.
We'll try to fix this soon.
Thank you
John Nelson.

Another suggestion: Exempt a player from the runner-scheme, who consistenly advertises himself as Novice until he has played enough tournaments to be rated on it. A runner would be too big-headed to take advantage of this dispensation.

Glad to hear this is a bug and not an intended result. I'll try a few more of these tourneys and see if I can get to where I no longer have this albatross around my neck.
While you're fixing the bug you might want to see if there's a way to get support staff on the same page because they said flat out that express tourneys don't count -- and didn't change this advice even after I pointed them to your post stating otherwise.
I'd also suggest that this should be addressed in the BBO Help. Imagine yourself as a new person registering here and you get a cryptic message saying your completion rate is too low the first time you try to register for a tournament. The first place you look is BBO Help. I don't believe there's anything there about the policy. In fact, as far as I can see there's nothing there suggesting that it's offensive to drop out of a tournament. I'm guessing you would have had less problem with runners in the first place if you said in the help pages, and prominently on the tournament info that comes up when clicking the "More" button, that people should not join a tournament unless they intend to complete it. This may seem obvious to you, but an inexperienced person might not realize this is bad behavior.
