It has been suggested that the best way to bid a 2056 11 count hand is to open 1, rebid 2 and then bid 3 which tells partner that this was not a hand with reverse values.

I don't like it but I will save that until later, comments?

I hope that whoever suggested that won't sit in front of me, but he is wellcome to play at my sides.

Depending on suit quality your best option IMO is to bid the hand just as if you had a 5-5 minor hand or a 4-7 hand if the clubs are good.

So I normally open 1 and bid like if I was 5-5 (or 6-5). But if the clubs are good enough (KQ109xx for example), I can open 1 and fake a 2047 instead. So open 1, rebid clubs and only show diamonds when partner shows them first or with a competitive 4NT.

Examples:

Qx - KQJxx AQxxxx. this is an obvious 1 for me, akin a 5-5 minor hand

Qx - Kxxxx AQJxxx. This is an obvious 1 for me, akin a 4-7 minor hand

Agree 1000% with fluffy.

Who ever heard of a free run auction with that shape?

My opponents are usually in 4 or by the time it gets back to me.

Kathryn: whoever gave you that advice is out of the mainstream. I love bidding my shape, so will stretch to open the long suit and reverse into the higher, even tho I probably have as high a minimum for the typical 1435 reverses as anyone posting here, but my view is that you need a decent 14 count (ok, you can get me doing it with spectacular 13 counts) in order to do it with 5=6, and I would want one of the suits to be a major.
