I found this article interesting, and have put Masdar on my list of places I'd like to visit one day: In Arabian Desert, a Sustainable City Rises, Walled and Lofty

Even the electric cars seem interesting.

I clearly remember seeing a television special about the future in the late 1980s which claimed that by the year 2000 almost all cars on the road would be solar powered. But it always turns out hilarious to look back and see how the past perceived the future would become.
