Is that really how you play your 4♠ bid - a hand that forgot to open? :(

I don't mind passing some 12 card 4333s, but this isn't one of them.
Still decidedly intermediate - don't take my guesses as authoritative.

Nicely done Kathryn!

By the way, do you play that 6H asks for the heart king? Would you have had a way to find the grand slam if north held the club or diamond queen instead?
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

That's what I assumed - sort of a "we're good up to this suit" bid. We'll see if that's actually what her agreement was.

well i approve of north's original pass, but i also approve of the lack of XX - if partner thinks that's a 4S bid, there's a good chance he also thinks he's got an ace when he doesn't.

Would the sequence (starting at 5N) 5N-6C, 6H-6S, 6N....suggest going to 7 with anything extra in clubs or diamonds?

Yes, 6♥ asks partner to bid the grand if he has the ♥K, we don't have a method to ask for a minor queens, do you?

As for the opening pass, I think my partner would usually open this. I'll ask. He was sick when we were playing these so I can only assume he miscounted or felt too ill to play it :(

Good question. No one has shown the ♦ King but we did have a way to ask for it so perhaps this should be bid 7 with a minor Q.

If 2♣ is never natural, what would it show from North?

Really well done!

Look at the scores of small and grand slams redoubled sometime. Its a great way to pick up IMPs. I didn't a small slam in Reno in the last session of the IMP pairs, and it cost us about 5 IMPs and one place.

In that case your partner misbid but you saved him/her.

Yes if you play drury, this would be a good hand to use it!

Also, I think your partner should always go to the 7-level after 5NT, he can't possibly have more and he knows both kings are useful.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

2♣ and 4♠/2♠ ,or 3♣/2♠ I assume.

maybe 3NT over 2S but I don't know, I stopped passing 12 counts long ago so I forgot...

If partner bids 2S I would pass. I mean, I can't have this hand, but if it is our agreement to pass balanced 12-counts then after 1S - 2C - 2S I would pass.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

I think Han's post must be a typo bidding 2♠/2♣

Why would you use 2♣ drury here to show a good hand in support of partners opening but unsure of game? Why give the opps more information and misdescribe (for a 2nd time perhaps) your hand on the way to game?
