Yes if you play drury, this would be a good hand to use it!

Also, I think your partner should always go to the 7-level after 5NT, he can't possibly have more and he knows both kings are useful.

What? Partner might be looking for the DK with AKJxxx A AQTxx x or something. I think bidding 7 is very bad over 5N. They got there anyways.

I think Han's post must be a typo bidding 2♠/2♣

Why would you use 2♣ drury here to show a good hand in support of partners opening but unsure of game? Why give the opps more information and misdescribe (for a 2nd time perhaps) your hand on the way to game?

I don't think he typo'd, he said IF partner bids 2S over 2C, you should pass, not that partner would bid 2S on this actual hand.

Jillybean, do you think 1S p 4S describes the north hand? 1S p 4S shows a distributional hand, not a 4333 12 count. The point is if you have an opening bid you should open, and if you don't have an opening bid and shape then you have a limit raise (aka drury).

If you have a 4333 limit raise with 3 trumps, that is a hand that should respect partners sign off over drury. If partner had some game interest in that hand, they could bid 2D after 2C.

It's fine to re-evaluate your hand to an opening bid because you have a nice fit for partner/shortness somewhere/whatever, but this hand is 4333 and is just punishing partner if it game forces over a 4th seat opener. Partner should open a 5332 10 count in 4th seat (with spades)!

You must bid consistently. Either open the hand, or treat it as a 3 card limit raise over drury. Yes it is a maximum 3 card limit raise but that's fine. What you definitely should not do is bid 1S p 4S which shows a totally different hand type, and forces to game opposite a minimum 4th seat opener, and hurts your slam bidding (it didn't on this hand since your hand was so good, but it could have)>

Yes, I agree. I would open north hand 1♣ (thanks gwnn!) any day and so 4♠/1♠ is playing catch up and not good bridge.

Bridge should be fun!

Off course you mean 1♣ and from your south seat you bid the hand nicely, except for your forgetting to redouble with what has to be 13 sure tricks as long as you have any trust in pard's bidding. Considering the opps can have nothing but quacks, one of them must have been doubling on lots of quacks hoping to score a trick :)

Also, 1♠ - 4♠ is typically made from a different type of hand, something like 5-card trump support, less than opening but with some shape. If you bid 4♠ with that hand as well as a balanced 12-13, partner will have a hard time judging accurately on followup actions, if any.
