It is a courtesy when playing a Tourney-or a game---if one recieves a phone call during play-------To pick up and say "Hold plse" and continue till hand is over............How many times have i heard the response "I was on the PHONE".

and the contract is let through.

If you're playing bridge at the kitchen table with friends or family, I think they would put up with you taking the phone call. On the other hand, if you're at a tournament, having your cell phone go off may be subject to a penalty. If you're playing online, many people consider this very casually, and will step away from the computer to answer the doorbell, take phone calls, go to the bathroom, etc.
