Tourney #8642. Board #9: Certainly seems if I open 2C then 3C then 5C don't I want to play in Club suit ! ! ! BOT takes me to 6N - I get so mad I go to 7C down 1. 6N nor 3S nor 5H makes either which were BOTs 2d & 3d bids after my Club repeats ! !
Board 5: Opp's bid to 5D which we can SET;, I've passed twice BOT forces contract to 5H level - when opp's lead a suit - BOT has singleton Ace/Spades, instead of taking trick DUCKS ! ! ! goes down 3-4 more then only 2 losers.

ESPECIALLY when playing Robot Rebate & you get these kind of inconsistencies - want my money back. If I (or anyone "doubles then bids" equals BIG HAND - why does BOT keep bidding something else, especially when I keep denying I do NOT want to play in his suit ! ! !

We (the forum readers, not the administrators) cannot see those hands, so if you give us the handviewer links, we might be able to help explain why GIB did what he did. Of course, the programmers can look and answer, but there are more readers than administrators to assist you

5C promised 27+ total points. Holding 8 HCP North figured that small slam was a certainty and grand slam was definitely in the picture. 5♥ was intended as natural.

These sorts of hands are difficult for GIB to bid intelligently. In a best hand tournament, my recommendation is to play hands as quickly as you can and not worry too much about the occasional crazy result.

6♠ is a nice contract, but South would have to support North's suit to get there.

I wonder what the other two mentioned boards actually look like...

You did not pass twice before North bid 5♥; you passed once before he made that bid, and then once afterwards as the auction ended.

As declarer, North took the 9 tricks he was entitled to take, and lost the 4 tricks (one in each suit) that he must lose. It's not possible to duck a singleton ace!

If you want to complain that your partner competed to the 5-level with his 8-card suit after you voluntarily raised him, you may or may not get sympathy.

I wonder which was the "doubles then bids" hand...
