A forum poll with 27 responses indicates that no one passes the North hand in first seat. (20 opened 1♠, 6 said 3♠ and 1 said 4♠.) Can GIB's criteria be adjusted so that he doesn't pass?

Sure, I can add a special rule for GIB to open the bidding with any 11-HCP hand with a 7-card major. Does
look like an opening bid to everyone? It looks close enough to me.

Maybe just make sure it opens like rule of 20 or 21 in all seats holding a 6+ major?

We talked about it a long time ago so I kind of forget, but I think I mentioned to you at some point that gib seems to count nothing for singleton honors a lot? Not that this wouldn't be a 3♠ opening even then.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

GIB doesn't count "nothing" for singleton honors. GIB counts their HCP value, but does not add any total points for the shortness.

So the worst possible hand with 7 spades is close to you; sounds like a reason to implement that rule! I would strongly prefer GIB to open xxxxxxx of spades and some points 1S to him passing this great hand.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.
