Scoring: MP

You, a junior, deal and bid...?
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

5♦. Doesn't feel like a close decision to me, at equal vulnerability with no ace.

That said, there are a lot of people who open 3♦ on so many of the hands that are worth a 4♦ opening, that they don't feel any need to open 5♦ when they get a hand like this one.

4 however I keep staring at that KJ and asking myself what I would open with ♣xx and that's definitely 4♦. Maybe I'm supposed to say "with the extra defense, don't preempt so much since they can't make as much" but I'm not that smart.

I've talked myself into 5. No I haven't - I can still open 4♦ and double 4M as a wannabe 5♦.
