Scoring: MP

(2)-X-(2NT)-?

Opponents are juniors. 2NT is explained as a feature ask. 5 would (look like an) ask for a 2nd round spade control.

Plan ahead if you would.

I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

Do Wayne and Tuna take their act on the road, or did they keep their day jobs?

6. Closer to 7 than to any other action.

Agree with the bid, not the commentary.

I suspect the 2N bidder has something hugely 2 suited with spades and diamonds, partner may well have nothing more than a 2344 weak no trump or 1345/1444 of similar strength, which of course could still be enough to make 7.

I think 6 has exactly one small spade most of the time, as you haven't exclusioned or showed any worry about 2 spade losers. Hence I will bid 6H and pass over 6 to invite partner to bid 7. I know this should show 1st round spade control, but I think I've already pretty much denied this when I bid 6.

This makes the 2nt bid 96.4% to be a joke.

At imps, you can bid 7, confident they will dive but it's not clear at MP's. -500 in 7 doubled against the fields -300 in 6 doubled stinks so the opponents may not bite on that, hoping to beat the grand.

I'm passing first to find out what/if the feature is on my left and may pass some more to try and buy it in 6 (maybe 7) depending on developments.

If it's a true joke 2nt, I may eventually be able to do this pulling pards double and avoid them taking a cheap dive.

ps. It's legitimate to ask for pards feature with a real worm burner when say, a card tells you if and how high to dive, ie. 6-5 in the pointed suits.

Scoring: MP

2-X-2NT-4
P-P-4NT-5
P-P-6-6
P-P-6-X
P-P-XX-AP
Down 3, +1000 N/S

Clearly played at a high level.

2NT was a feature ask, 4NT was RKC, W's pass over 5 was DEPO, and E was devastated? when W had 0.

I was kibbing W, a friend of mine, in a local club game against two club 'regulars'. Before bidding 4NT E tanked for about a minute, at which point W and myself had to stop ourselves from cracking up because we were so sure he was just figuring out the best way to preempt/continue his psyche.

Quick Edit: I actually like the bidding through 2NT, but it gets silly beyond that.
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

2 is insane
x is ridiculous
2N is silly
4 is less than optimal
pass is good! yay!
pass is wonderful! kudos!!
4N is more silliness
5 is begging to miss a slam
pass is wonderful!
pass is excellent!
6 is a simple WTF.
6 is perfect
pass here is debatable I mean maybe you wanna bid 7 because partner apparently promised some wonderhand with a lot of diamonds
pass from N is great, N is on a roll at this point, very good judgement, three good calls in a row.
6 is the best bid by East until now.
X is fine I guess.... But the way East is bidding it would be a shame not to make him bid 7
pass is delightful
pass is splendid
XX is complete lobotomy, does he think he can make or does he think 7H will go down?
pass is superb
pass is correct
pass is a happy ending to a sad story
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

In DEPO, is zero an odd number (remembering the pass)? or was opener showing his heart void as an ace?

I like 2 NV at MP so long as partner isn't expecting anything constructive. I don't like being stolen from by juniors so I don't mind X, though it's definitely one of the worst Xs I've ever seen. 2NT is meh, but I don't know if he has anything better to do.

@aguahombre: Huh. I remember them saying they play DEPO, and then E later (jokingly) complaining that W was supposed to have 2. Now I'm confused.

@gwnn: you are once again my hero
