I don't see how this is a forcing sequence, but I agree with the double.

I bid 6♣, the crazy bidding spree was ended by my partner when he doubled 6♦.

+1400 when declarer lost control of the hand (should have been just 500).

Now when I look at the hand again I really don't understand what I was up to bidding 6♣ but it worked out just fine.
