There should be a button that you can click that puts a table message says you need to leave urgently and disconnects you from BBO in one click. I needed to answer a job interview phone call and I couldn't get to exit fast enough- unfortunately I had the crown.

The last thing we need is something that makes it easier for players to run away from a game in progress.

that will never happen, my boss wrote to bbo and tehy agreed not to implement such a measure for 99 years

it is too difficult to fire people and then have to rehire and retrain others cause they play bridge

Babalu just wanted a shoulder to cry on, is that too much to ask for?

It is already easy to exit bbo - just close the application or the browser window. What is not easy is to do this in a way that the others know you have an emergency situation.

Isn't it the case that everyone who leaves suddenly does it because of an emergency situation?

I think this is a really bad idea. I can just imagine how many times I would misclick on this button. Besides doesn't it already exist? It looks like a little X up in the corner. I'm sorry that you decided to panic under the pressure of a ringing phone and couldn't find the X fast enough.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

There already is such a button. It's the chat button and you can write. "Last hand for me, thanks all!"

That one time a year that you really cannot wait for the end of the hand because your house is on fire or something, we'll excuse you. Otherwise, don't start hands you might not be able to finish!

It already exists: Alt-F4.

...

If anything, I would like a warning from BBO that says, "We notice you are about to leave in the middle of a hand. Repeated offenses may result in a suspension of your BBO privileges. Are you sure you still want to leave"

The button is available in team games - "I am withdrawing from this team match - enter reason___"

I like it , I have subbed into a team match and subsequently received abuse from my partner or found us to be hopelessly incompatible so this gives me a quick, clean method to quit. If I use the X to signoff I am in danger of being sucked back in when I sign back onto BBO. Other than a potential ban, there is nothing stopping people from quitting now, the button only provides an easier and polite option for people with legitimate reasons.

What would be great is a button "I am withdrawing after this hand"
"And no matter what methods you play, it is essential, for anyone aspiring to learn to be a good player, to learn the importance of bidding shape properly. MikeH
"100% certain that many excellent players would disagree. This is far more about style/judgment than right vs. wrong." Fred

I once had an opponent disappear in the middle of a hand, didn't even bother to leave his (virtual) seat. He came back a few minutes later and apologized, explaining that the pressure cooker his wife was using had exploded and he had gone to make sure she was OK.

In a real emergency, there isn't really time to click any buttons, let alone excuse oneself.
