I might not understand the modern treatment of this sequence, but I was surprised by GIB's explanations. EastGIB is dealer, EW vul:

(1♣)-Dbl-(P)-2♥
(P)-3♦-all pass

2♥ is explained as 4+♥; 10-12 total points. Does every 13+ point hand have to cuebid or bid game instead of simply jumping in suit?

3♦ is explained as rebiddable ♦; 12+ total points. Is this not a double-and-correct, showing a bigger hand?

At another table, the auction was:
(1♣)-Dbl-(P)-2♥
(P)-3♣-(P)-3N
(P)-4♥-(P)-5♦
(P)-6♦-all pass

3♣ is explained as 2♣; 4-5♦; 3♥; 4♠; 13+ total points; partial stop in ♣; partial stop in ♥. The explanation of the 4♥ bid is exactly the same. If you know precisely how many ♣, ♥ and ♠ this hand has, don't you know precisely how many ♦? Why does it have to include 2♣?

3N is explained as 4-5♥; 5-♠; 12+HCP; 12- total points; partial stop in ♣; 6+ relay points. I'm amused by the relationship between HCP and total points. 5-♠? Would NorthGIB really bid 3N instead of 3♠ with 5-5 in the majors? Or even with 5-4 or 4-4, since he seems to think partner has 4♠?

NorthGIB actually held: 4, JT73, AJ98, KJT9.

Why does NorthGIB pass partner in partscore in the first sequence and bid over partner's game bid in the second, when he thinks both partners are showing essentially the same strength hand?

In the first auction, since North has shown constructive values, South doesn't have to have a monster to bid a new suit. He's likely to be something like 4=3=5=1 with opening strength. He has enough to invite game, but hearts could be a 4-3 fit, so he bids out his shape.

Double and correct only shows extra when the response to the double is a minimum. You need a big hand to bid on when partner could have a yarborough.
