Scoring: IMP

(P)-P-(1NT)-P
(2)-P-(3)-P
(P)-?

1NT is 14-16

You ask about super-accepts. 3 shows 4 spades, no weak doubleton.

I am passing even non-vul :(
Good ad for treatment described by Brink where dbl of transfer bid is t/o for transferred suit.

Surely we are not going to bid now. It is my feeling this hand should have bid 2S as t/o over the transfer.

If only you have this treatment for this one hand. I am afraid though it is more useful as 2 suiter with .

Yes pass is probably the odds position since you need partner to hold good and he was unable to X the 2 bid. A counter example of not passing you hold

[
Scoring: IMP

The opps are playing a 15-17 NT and you hear the auction
(p) p (1NT) ? (IMO this is a clear pass)
(2S)* X (P) ? (IMO this is a clear 4 call) *->

While luck to make was needed game rates to be a fair shot.

example hand
"Tell me of your home world, Usul"
the Freman, Chani from the move "Dune"

"I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it."

Since Kfay is in medical research he apparently has unrestricted access to the pharmacy.

Not tempted to bid.

at MP this is a GREAT gamblers hand for a penalty X to try for a top I estimate
that you would score almost 100% on close to 65% of hands and get complete zeroes on other 35%--- for every ten hands your MP score will be roughly 64% pretty darn good

AT IMPS you will also gain imps on close to 65% of the hands and lose on 35% but the mathmatics are a tad different. I estimate out of ten hand 4 will go down 1
for a gain of about 3 imps each (12 total) 2.5 will go down 2 OR 3 for a gain of 8 IMP EACH (20) imps so we will gain 32 imps every ten hands

The problem is even if they make ONLY 3 the other 3.5 hands the average loss
is 11 imps per hand so every ten hands we will lose 38.5 imps for a grand total of minus 6 imps every ten hands.

ALL of the above applies ONLY when you are BEHIND the 1NT opener not in front of---in this case your are anti-positional and should pass.

You do realize most of the time partner will hold about a balanced 6-9?

Isn't that what he held this time?
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Lucked out with 3 of 5 DJ DK HK CQ CA onside. Try 1 of 6, 2 of 5.
Got lucky, good story.
