You're in a thin slam on the following auction:

Scoring: MP

1S 2NT
3C 3H
4C 4D
4NT 5D
6S

(perhaps not the best auction...)

and you receive a low diamond lead. Assuming you win this and play the ace of trumps, LHO plays the Q, RHO following low.

Plan the play.

test spades then test diamonds and if both fail to break then try heart finese seems very straightforward. K by now.

Ya, this isn't thin, this is good. Auction is fine.

2-2 or 3-3 or hook. (With no 4-0 ) This is like over 80% or something, at least after the lead.

Edit: Ya, on second thought the auction isn't so hot. 3 is an overbid. Once you bid 3, 4 is probably an overbid too. Once you've made those 2 overbids, S should at least Q ask, to try for 7 (since surely your 1 Ace isn't the club Ace here.) 'I regularly see (and sadly, perpetrate) worse auctions' would have been a better assessment.

I don't like the auction. After 3C, I would bid 4S; after club shortness, my hand has reduced to 10 working points and four bad spades, but opener could still try with 5C. Or if opener, I would show my side suit instead of club void/singl.

The contract is fine.

Don't understand why you'd bid 4 over 3. Partner is still unlimited and a barrage bid like 4 doesn't at all help. Yes, people who make barrage bids always preface it by saying partner can always try again, as long as he can guess how badly your hand has been done in by his shortness. If the choice is between bidding 4 over 3 and how they bid up to 6 here, sign me up for the latter any time.
