unfav. imps

1-4-5-5
?

a. Partner is very reliable
b. Partner is not very reliable

edit: by unreliable I mean his 5H bid could be unorthodox and his 2nd round decision inaccurate. But he wouldn't pass it out if we pass.

a) Pass, showing interest in bidding more
b ) I'm tempted just to bid 6 hoping the opps will save, but given partner's bid could be not that great if unreliable, and partner's play will likely not be optimal in a close contract, I'll just pass again (hmmm or unless partner is so bad he'd never X, then I'd X).

Surely pass is forcing even with an unreliable partner? It feels just about right showing willingness to go on if partner has extra values.

our cards are just wonderful, I am bidding 6 in both cases. 5NT blackwood if I had that agreement.

This. Support with support.

If partner is unreliable maybe he will learn something :)

I'm in for 6. Even if this is wrong they sacrifice sometimes.

partner has nothing, 5s and 6h both down 1. -200 won 9 imps because teammates brought back +590

so be it, but losing 8 IMPs for +300 when we could win +13 in 1430 would be very stupid.
