Scoring: IMP

1-2
2-2
3-6
7-DOUBLE!

Bidding starts on your left, partner doubled.

What would you lead w/o the double?

Pretty obv diamond imo.

1) Partner has an ace.
2) So a club is out.
3) Partner is not that likely to have the SA and it is unlikely to go away anyway since our red suits are good.
4) The opps are more likely to be off AQ in a suit than AK in a suit.

if you have no double to guide you, how do you know the opps are missing an ace and why would you assume they are stupid enough to bid a grand missing a needed control?

Isn't he saying lead a after X? That would be my choice.

Club without double.

Partner is asking me not to lead clubs or hearts, and believes he has a good chance of a set with another lead. I see no reason not to follow his advice.

If a spade sets it, it is highly likely to be down anyway. (I don't think partner would double with the A/K anyway.) He could be void of course, but that would be rather strange.

So a diamond it is.

Edit: Without the double; a heart. LHO has a degree of support, and hopes his good spade suit will come in. Have to hope partner has the A. (A is out, as he would have doubled.)
