Scoring: IMP

1:1
1:2*
3:3
3N:4N?

This is a hand from a sectional, interesting (for me anyway) in both the bidding and play. What is partner showing and what is your bid now?

You only have 12 cards, but partner has a strong hand with 4 spades, and has keycarded in spades so I answer.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Yep.

Really like the 3NT call rather than 4C. 4C would have been one of those mandatory cue bids, but 3NT showed extra strength above a minimum opener (if that is what was intended, since the spade fit was already established.)

If partner asks for Kings, I think it is time to jump off and bid 7S.

Forget the above: not fair changing the hand in the OP after responses.

Obvious for everyone except me, I wasn't sure that we had a fit.

4SF then support an opener's suit stablishes trumps and is GF at least.

your partner should have responded 1S

small diamond from dummy i will take

5 spades
3 hearts with the finesse
2 diamonds
2 clubs

anyway what happened to my hand? the KQ metamorphosed into the Ace and the jack teleported himself to my partner
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Im boggled eyed from late night tournament play and reading too many hand records.

only one person knows so respond accordingly 5, 5, or 5 and after your call be sure you respond "aye, aye captain"
