It just seems to me that if you are going to pass with a 6-4 shape in which most of the time partner is going to have 3+ card support for your 6 card suit, and a secondary fit when it is only 3 card support (and much of the time anyway) it must be on the understanding that you intend to show it later, whatever happens in the intervening time. I just feel more comfortable bidding now.
