OK so a friend asked me to forward these proposals for an open discussion here. I will just quote from his letter:

"When playing at a table with locked seats, maybe it would be nice if each player could choose his own partner, and not only the host would take this decision."

This proposal is probably older, now there is an option to apply as pair, on the web version, and i applaud that!!! So, on the same idea, if only one player is seated that player can choose his partner from the remaining applicants.
