Weird hand... guess I'd give it 5H, we don't need much for slam.

One more try with 5H.

Hi,

I think, it is only the question, if you want to insist on slam
or just invite.
If p could still have 10-12 bal., I guess you should just bid
6H, if he already has denied this hand (*), than 5H may well be
enough, but 6H ist still tempting.

(*) Depends to a large degree about the meaning of 4m, if 4m is
natural or if it is a cue.

With kind regards

Your partner's must expect a lot from your hand for a 5 bid I would bid 6 :)

I have to try once, something on the 5-level. Probably just 5H. I can't afford to bid 4S, partner might be misled about my heart length.

I know 5 asks him to look at his majors, but xx Kxxx or x Jxxx makes a decent slam. I don't think he's going to accept the try with that, so I'd bid 6 myself.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

I have to take one more call for slam here. I think it is a bit aggressive just to bid 6 outright, but it maybe close to 50/50.

Lacking firm agreements about what 5m would mean here, I think I just try 5.

I'm closer to busting out 6 than I am to passing. x JTxx xxxx xxxx has play for a grand, after all.

First choice 6, second choice a cuebid - God only knows which one.

Definitely not bidding 5, which supposedly says I am afraid of my trump quality for slam, and I can make slam opposite a lot of Jxx and Jxxx heart holdings.

Yeah I agree 5H can miss some good slams but I think it avoids more bad slams than it misses good ones. I guess one thing working in it's favor is sometimes on the bad layouts you're too high in 5 anyways.

if we haven't promised 5 hearts yet I like my chances in 6 right now, otherwise it is a lot tougher, and even pass might be indicated.

4 was the weakest bid partner could make- besides 4 . So 6 is too much for me. I try 5.

How would partner make a strong heart raise? Is 4m not natural?

I don't know what is the official style, but my partner can't. They can bid 3 NT with heavy minors, 3 Spade with spades and anything else ist heading towards slam in Hearts.

4m is a cue for hearts
