I'll go with 2H as well. Obviously it will be hard to find our 5-3 heart fit after 1NT, while we can still easily get to 3NT after 2H (maybe even from partner's side. I don't thinkt hat 1NT is very bad though.

pass and double are absurd.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

hmm.. I was going with 1NT, but the 3-card spade suit says pard probably is short in spades so he can very well have 3 hearts. It's thus likely I'll miss the heart fit if I bid that.

I don't like 1NT, to me it's between 2♥ and pass. The upside and downside of 2♥ are both really high, but I'll chance it.

I really do not get some "opinion - dogmatic fact" (I really like it) here.

What happened with all those guys who voted for my hand 1NT?

What happened with whole bunch of criticism about 5 cards overcalls on second level?

What happened to those who said my hand is to strong to pass and this one some voted pass?

Looks like I will never catch this "expert" level or I am just losing time at forum not much better then Croatian one?

We can still find 3NT after a 2♥ overcall if 3NT is right.

The chances that we will be able to get to 4♥ after a 1NT overcall when 4♥ is right are quite small.

As for pass or double, I find both of those options to be out of the question.

Looks like you don't understand that the forums is not one person with ten thousand logins. It's a bunch of people with a wide range of bridge abilities who each have different opinions and don't always agree with each other.

Dino you have to understand the difference from having a clear double (your hand), and not having a good bid to enter the bidding (here). People don't like 2♥ now, but they aren't chancing a pass.


I don't really see why people chance a 2♥ overcall when 1NT has little flaws, seems like they are seeing something I don't.

I think the suit quality is so poor for 2♥.

2♥. Overcalling 2♥ over 1♠ is a different species than a 2m overcall because we are now aiming for a 4♥ contract. So the flat shape is not nearly as terrible.

It's close between 2♥ and 1NT, but I want a second spade card to bid 1NT here, just give me the T and we may be talking. I need 'outs' if we get to 3NT instead of 4♥ on a 5-3, and for 3NT to be better, it would be nice with a second spade stopper.

Don't understand pass.

For me it is 2♥. Yes I would like a better suit, yes I would like a longer suit; but I have what I have. If I am to make game I see 4♥ as a more likely making contract. If 4♥ is not the spot I have 3NT as backup. If you swapped the red suits I would probably bid NT since I am a hell of a long way from 5♦ and much closer to getting doubled.

I used to think like you, so I'm only saying this as a "I think you should reconsider" type thing..I really think pass is terrible, and it's a bidders game. You could have a game, you have to bid, you rarely go for a number. It's a scary world but 2H is a winning bridge bid in my very strong opinion (now)

reopening doubles are not mandatory --see previous string --- so we might pay 100 per undertrick vs their NT game. 2H with a poker face.
