In general I think everyone agrees with this: In bridge, if you change the definition of your bids wildly from hand to hand or are just loosy-goosy in general, you will not have good results on average!
If you have 10-14 with 7 spades, that's already going to be an unbalanced hand. How is this unbalanced hand as good as your other other 7-spade unblanced 10-14 hands? Partner has no idea what to expect!
