3 here, then diamonds. But I would have made a fit jump a round earlier, planning to follow with a 4 bid.

Interestingly we are playing fit jumps here and agreed that the fit jump was what we should have bid the first time, and then given we didn't we discussed 4 versus 3 and preferred 3. The table action was 3 which floated for +150 opposite KQxx - Jxxxx AQxx.

You bid 3 over 2? Isn't that preemptive?

Sorry the auction at the table was 1-(2)-2-2-3-P which was not a great result. But while the 3 bidder did not like her bid in retrospect (she had thought briefly 2 created a gf, we were not sure what the right path was with her strong hand).

I would just prefer 4d and not go thru a possible messy 4sf auction in which I will learn little.

I think 3d over 2s is just a misunderstanding of what 3d should mean.

As OP mentioned.....2h on this is not gf but clearly in mainstream nontop bridge this is still confusing.

Yeah, one other thing that I was uncertain about was what 4 should mean in the sequence 1-(2)-2-2-3-3nt-4. Does it show a hand like this slamming in diamonds with hearts and diamonds? Or does it show a hand like Axx AKJxx Ax xxx a diamond cue slamming in nt with club weakness?

3C then 4D, I think 4D direct here shows good trumps.

Is there a difference between ...3...3NT...4 and ...4?
Or is the auction via 3 not really showing something different, but trying to get more info. E.g with short you are more interested in 6 (or 7) if partner cannot bid 3NT.

1 (2) 4? Isn't that preemptive too? I either have the auction wrong or I'm on another planet today...

I found your lost book :( (This is a test!!)
