I think 2 at my first turn shows this hand. Having bid only 1 I agree with the rest of the auction.

I bid 4S over 4D, if you dont play fit jumps, I would even say
a jump to 3S instead of 1S is better, but now 4S is clear.

Yeah I like 2S a lot the first time, but I guess a lot of people would play it as a fit jump or something. If 2S the first time was not an option then 1S is the only choice. 3S would simply be way too much after RHO has shown 4 spades.

After that your passes were auto.

Hm, I missed the neg. X, ..., now the bidding seems better,
but I still may be tempted to bid 4S, oh well.
It is early in the new year, maybe too early.

assuming the X showed exactly 4 I would have tried 2

Even worse if the opps were not playing -X and the auction went 1 directly over 1 now what does 2, 3 etc show? Some would argue for the same meanings after the -X so you might actually have to pass one round before even trying to bid :(
