ACBL If you play a response of 2♣ to a 1nt opening bid which may not contain a 4 card major must it be alerted/announced and at what stage in the auction?

Alert a two spade rebid over two hearts which shows four spades and denies four hearts or a two notrump rebid which may not have a four card major.

that covers the invite hands. It is my understanding that, if 2C followed by 3m is your only way of setting up a force with a minor, and thus you might not have a major, that has to be alerted by opener at the time of the 3m bid.
That is a very old style in these days of 4-suit xfers and walsh relays, but I think the alert wording applies to it.

In ACBL, the 2C bidder's next bid is alerted if that next bid shows a hand that does not promise a 4-card major (does not have to deny it, just "does not promise" ). Like in using 4-suit transfers, 1NT-2C-2x-2NT, the 2NT call is alerted because it may or may not have a 4-card major.
