Note 2: partnership style is "modern classic", which means not particularly agressive, and not particulary conservative.

Not my style to open 2S with that hand (really don't like it). Wouldn't game try with the east hand but it's close. This just seems like a style thing though, and if the style is wide ranging enough for that to be a 2S opener but the other hand to be a pass, then that is the downside of having such a wide ranging style.

West was a maximum 2 bid. East was a maximum to not invite opposite spades. The hands fit perfectly. The opponents made the wrong lead. Spades broke. Clubs broke.

Huh? This is really misleading. All of this led to 2 overtricks making, it's not like it was required for game to be good.

Lol I know game is good otherwise. In what way is that misleading? They just contributed to making 6, as anyone can tell since both hands are posted. I don't see why you felt the need to pick on that anyway, someone asked you a constructive question you could have answered instead!

When someone says something like "they made the wrong lead, clubs and spades broke, what can you say?" it generally implies that those things were relevant. Yes they are relevant to making 6 but they are pretty irrelevant to making game, and missing game was the issue.

I mean seriously, when one says "they made the wrong lead and everything split" doesn't that almost always come with the implication that you do not want to be in the game in your opinion when assigning blame for missing a game?

Your argument of "as anyone can tell since both hands are posted" seems flawed, since why would you say anything if that was the case? After all, everyone can see the hands, they're posted!

So it just seems self serving to your real argument which was that the hands fit perfectly and both are maximum to add all of this other stuff. Your argument is not a bad one, so I don't really see why you added in the basically irrelevant stuff with it.

Anyways, I am not accusing you of being nefarious obv, I just thought it was odd for you to write those things.

That might be awful.

How can you pass 1S with the east hand? You have 13 very prime with 4 hearts. If partner has a 2 suiter in the majors, your hand is amazing. If partner has a D/S two suiter your hand is very good. Basically any time partner can drive to game over 1N it will be great (he will have shape and 5+ spades), and if he can invite game in hearts that will be great.

If he has 11 and you get to 2N with 24 HCP instead of 1S, worse things have happened! If you get to 1N instead of 1S, this could be fine, worse things have happened. If you get to 2S instead of 1S, they probably would have balanced anyways so you got to 2S instead of 2S. Hey, you might have even gotten to 2S instead of 3S now! But even if they were somehow not balancing, getting to 2S instead of 1S is not the end of the world.

Passing when you could so easily have game should at least come with some significant/frequent upside!

If I open lite then one spade

If I open very sound then 2s and responder forces to game.

In any event I dont know multi but is this really a 2s response ????/

My first thought was these guys do not know how to play multi.

In any event I do not see opener as a nv 2s opener unless very very sound.

Even if you play very conservative weak twos,

opener may hold KQxxxx, xx,Qxx,Qjx and game is lousy....

So I won`t blame opener for opening a weak two or partner for not inviting. Fits well, bad luck.
