In a Bridge world article a few years ago Jeff Goldsmith suggested playing transfers in this sequence. They solve the good 3d bad 3d hands and would right side this one.

In relation to another thread I saw today, what would 5 show? Or does it just mean you are trying to put it to the opponents? (I bid it for that reason)

5 = good trumps, but otherwise not very interested in slam. I don't like it for the latter reason, we could easily have slam (and will get there if partner cues 4 over 4).

The reason I got lucky is partner bid slam, misjudging my heart holding of course, on KJ JTx AJxxxx Ax. Queen of hearts on his left, stiff queen of spades on his right. Or maybe we just judged well?

Nah, lucky as heck.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Hard to determine the worth of the heart K with the heart length supposedly on my left.

I think 4D is plenty enough with this hand.

A 5D bid is just jamming LHO. I don't like it especially as I'm willing to play in 4S.

To rightside the contract you bid 3, you normally have time to raise diamonds later at the 5 level I think.

--- the only known suit that is "theirs" indubitably assigns the 3! response as the only limit raise ( or better ) call.
Thus, 3 by Responder has to be a long suit, IMO.
