Scoring: IMP

Bidding proceeds:

1S (2H) 4S P
P (5H) All Pass

NS + 100

Which of NS should take the push to 5S?

Comments about West having got away with murder are also welcome.

East's pass of 4♠ is very weird. North has a clear 5♠ bid.

Yes agree with all these comments.

North must compete to the 5 level. That said, I think south should also compete to the 5 level. On a scale of 1-10 how obvious it was, I would give north's 5S bid a 13, and souths a 7.

Also I assume west fielded partners tank pass over 4S :(

Blame goes to North. He has a very clear 5S bid. Even South could have bid 5S, but if he didn't North must do it. There is no excuse for North's final pass.

EW bidding raises some questions also. Why did East Pass 4S? And why did West bid 5H??

maybe north didn't think south would guess the trump suit correctly.
