Scoring: MP

You were sitting west holding the above hand. Your pd opened 1. RHO overcalled 2, alerted. You asked and got the explanation that it is & , at least 44 and 8-15 HCP. You decided to upgrade your hand to GF and bid 3. LHO bid 3 and two passes followed. You showed your support by 3. Pd bid 3NT. Will you bid on?

If playing 5-card majors, I need to bid 4. This hand is not very suitable for notrumps with no help in the enemy suits.

If playing 4-card majors I pass.

Definitely don't pass assuming you play 5 card majors. Just bid 4S on the round before also.

I like the upgrade, I hate 3 Spade and 4 spade now is mandatory.

Hi,

I would have bid 4S instead of 3S.
Since 3C was already GF, why did I bid 3S?
To invite slam? To investigate 3NT?

I dont think I am strong enough to invite slam, I did upgrade
my hand to a GF.
Since I am 6331 I have no interest in playing NT, so?
But if I did want to investigate 3NT, I have to pass.

With kind regards
Marlowe

If 3C is gameforcing, then 3S is misleading or an overbid. 3S should be reserved for hands that have slam prospects or NT prospects, both of which this hand is lacking.

Everyone is saying the same thing, and they are right!

4 over 3.
