I checked it out, and love the way it works. In fact, if you could use some mirrors of the vugraph archive page, we could have a thread right here on the forums for volunteers - I know I'll be one.

One suggestion is that the player names in the commentary are in black - while in BBO they are in a different color which makes following the commentary slightly easier.

One more improvement I'd like to suggest is that URL's while watching the live vugraph are clickable, whereas the same URL's in the archives are not. Making these clickable would improve user experience.

Thanks also for a good suggestion. I will try to do something along the lines that you suggest in the next version (which I suspect will be released within a week at the most).

In theory they are clickable, but the program might not be that smart when it comes to identifying certain elements of the commentary as URLs.

If/when convenient, can you please give me a reference to a file in which this problem manifests itself? I will then check it out and try to fix the problem (assuming that the commentator in question typed something that should be recognized as a well-formed URL).

My bad. I looked at the youth matches again and all URL's I found are clickable. I couldn't find the previous URL which was not clickable. If I find that particular URL I'll update the thread.

Thanks for following up on this.

We released a new version this morning in which:

- clickable links now appear in a different color
- the names of the commentators are highlighted (as you suggested)
- a couple of small bugs have been fixed

In order to make sure that you pick up the latest version it may be necessary for you to clear your browser's cache.

Seems like commentary can still mix up. See the closed room commentary for the 1st World Youth Congress Final Seg_2 for example.

I also like the archive, looks very neat. One suggestion is instead of two step navigation for next&previous board & other table, I would prefer buttons for each (like in windows lin viewer).

Here is how it works:

The GIB button becomes enabled when you display a hand and when the bidding for that hand is complete.

The GIB button then becomes disabled if you click it (while GIB is computing the double dummy results for the position in question).

When GIB is finished with the computation, the double dummy results will be displayed and the GIB button will become enabled again. Then, if you click the GIB button again, the double dummy results will be removed from the display.

If you change the position while GIB is in the middle of a computation, that computation will be cancelled and the GIB button will become enabled again (provided that a hand is still displayed and that the bidding is complete).

One thing that was useful in the old archive was the file size. There are quite a few that are around 150 bytes, I guess because the room either crashed or had to be restarted due to incorrect setup. I could avoid downloading these by looking at the file size but the new page doesn't have it. This is just minor though.

Good point.

I suspect we will eventually figure out a good method for deciding which files can be purged automatically.

One suggestion is that the search function doesnt seem to work very well.
"Sementa" and "hans" lead to a weak result set but "meckstroth" works quite well.

Also, I got the impression that one can search only the latest records and not search within the "all matches" but perhaps i am wrong.

Sorry - it does indeed appear that the commentary is still screwed up in some of the log files.

We are working on it. I will make a post when we think we have solved the problem, but that may not happen right away - this is complicated.

I will put this on my list of things to do. It may not get done for a while, but I will continue to make Forums posts detailing changes as new versions are released.

I don't think you will ever need to worry about backwards compatibility, but please let me know if I screw something up that causes existing presentations to stop functioning.

Also in 10980.lin, boards 31 and 32 have bidding, play and commentary but no cards.

This may not be a new bug or related to the new archive page, but I have never seen it before.
