Scoring: IMP

North opened 3,
passed out.

3NT is not great but makes easily on the layout. 3x is -500.

I think east has a pretty normal double.

Thanks God you didn't finish the topic with one cup...

East has to double.

Double with East. Both majors, all working honours and some spot cards. It would be better if the ace was somewhere else but still you can double with a little to spare.

West's pass is fine. North is a lunatic btw :)

I've been a bit mean, since ....

Scoring: IMP

East did double. 4X was -1100.
Perhaps West should take his medicine in 3NT or 3x.

Maybe North had A with the diamonds...

West should bid 3NT... Possible.

Sometimes South has that slayer hand. Oh well.

Preempts work.

West had an obvious 3N bid, not that 3N X is great.

I'm a doubler too, but it's extremely close. If it was just a bit quackier than all those AKQs then I would've passed. The west hand (the original posted hand) after 3D-p-p- could then have almost been a 3NT hand for me - something like Axx xxx KQxx AQx

I would pass as east and bid 3NT as west but both are close and I know my style of bidding very solid live and very light reopening is far from standard.
