pass is not forcing, double would had shown extras for the bid, if he had doubled we might bid 5♠ buthe did not, so 5♠ is out. I will gamble that we might score 3 tricks at least and double.

Partner took over with 4S, then passed. My partners would bid 4SP over a double with 5 or 6 spades, period....With all the Cappelleti tools he didnt use, I am not asked my opinion in the auction. I have the same opening bid I started with, and don't need to remind pard of that fact, again.

In BWS, a response of 3N shows a 'good raise' to 4M. So we can be quite sure that pard has a 'bad' raise to 4♠, however, at these colors I would expect ♠Kxxxx and an outside stiff or (less likely) a void. A typical hand would be Kxxxx, xxx, xxxx, x I think. We are not making 5 with this collection, and its a crap shoot if we can beat 5♥.

Partner made them guess with 4♠. Maybe they guessed right, or maybe not, but I pass.

Woolsey might say we have to double them in this situation, but the only reason why I think thats sensible is because we are trying to turn +50 into +100 and go from a 30% board to a 40% board, but if we are wrong, we have given ourselves a zero. Also, we are deluding ourselves if we ever think pard will pull here.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the ♥3.

Pass. Maybe they will make, maybe not. They took the last guess and I am not going to double here.

On a good day you will win the board when the field bid the cold slam.

I pass.

I have no reason to assume that I am beating them or that we are making anything.

5♥ could be a perfectly normal result. It could even be a good result, although I suspect that my diamond tricks are cashing.

I do not know if my partner's 4♠ bid is normal (which everyone in the field will find) or unusual. He may have succeeded in pushing the opps up one level. In that case, down one will be good and I don't need to double.

Your choice and why?

The forum voted 11 for double, one for 5s and 13 for pass. The expert BW panel voted Ten for double, ten for 5 spades and 7 for pass.

The reason for 5S is obv trying to make opposite short clubs, and if that doesn't work hope you have taken a good save.
