I had this one occur the other night:

1N (2♦!)* 2N!** (p)
3♣! - (3♦!)***!!!!!


2♦ = Cappelleti
2N = Leb
3♣ = forced

Now comes the explanation of 3♦

3♦ = 5+♠, 5+♥, 4+♦


Huh?

Turns out he was 4-5-4-0, I just thought the explanation was amusing. :lol:
Is the word "pass" not in your vocabulary?
So many experts, not enough X cards.

Clearly a deviation from systemic agreement to bid 3♦ on 4-5-4-0.

Using the 3♦ bid to show 5+♠ 5+♥ 4+♦ makes it a very rare bid indeed, but when it does come up, you are sure glad it is in your arsenal!

whew..I thought we were going to launch a MI/UI discussion, where 3D bidder just had diamonds. Deviation or not --right or wrong, he tried to bid out his hand. Did it work?

Maybe I could try this with a live partner: They ask me to explain his bids, I reply that he is showing 5-5-4 distribution, it's the only possible explanation for his bidding. And possession of all four aces.
