Scoring: IMP

1 (2*) ?

* Both Majors

1 is 14-17 Balanced with 4+ diamonds or (4)5+ diamonds unbalanced 11+

Can you act with this hand?

Do you want to?

I would bid a non-forcing 3. 2 (for some people 2) would show a stronger hand with s.

Normally , I would have a 6 card suit for 3, but the strong suit and the lead directing value make me choose 3.

I dont like PASS (too easy to be thrown out of the auction completely, miss the right lead, a save , or even a game when pd a minimum 4144),
And Double will not usually get me anywhere, since I am not really happy defending 2M or even 3M).

Hi,

I surely want to act, but unless I am deciding to bid 3C,
I have no bid.

The good thing is, I will have a 2nd opportunity, if the bidding
comes back, 2S being the most likely candidate.
And if 2S comes back, I have an easy neg. X.

With kind regards

In my regular partnership I would bid 2 NT which shows a good hand with diamonds or a weaker hand in another suit and I will pass 3 Club.

This is far from mainstream, but I have no idea, what to do opposite an unknown expert. Would 3 Club be forcing? I am afraid it is, so I would pass and bid later.
Kind Regards

Roland

I thought some might play 2H as F with C, 2S limit + for D. 2N leb relay leaving direct 3C as constructive. Dble suggesting defending. My choice is 3C based on this, passing looks whimpy but could easily be best.

Throw a spanner 2S bid. When it's found out, partner knows my escape was Clubs.

I think I'm (just) good enough for 2. Certainly AKQxx is worth more than 9 points.
I can see a very easy 3N opposite some weak NT's like QJx Kxx AKJx xxx.

The main mark against 2 is it allows LHO to bid a very inexpensive 2, but this isn't enough of a reason for me.
