How do you approach this hand?

1♦ 4+ either weak no trump or unbalanced 11+

Your call? - I considered PASS, Double and 1NT

If you pass waiting for a double and partner does double then LHO will perhaps predictably run to clubs which will get passed back to you.

What then?

I'd just make a negative double of 1♠. Partner is almost certainly unbalanced, so we may make quite a lot of diamonds, and as you say they're likely to find their club fit if we try to defend 1♠.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

I pass and 2♥ when it comes back. To me there is a huge difference between the choices, that I like an original pass far far more than double, which I like far far more than 1NT, which I think is awful.

I'd double, but it's quite close to passing. I think the spade spots aren't good enough for that.
