Depends a little on how light you open.

Maybe PASS or maybe 1NT.

There is not much to gain from 1NT especially if you open very light.

Would have doubled 1, not close.

I don't particularly like double on the first round. The poor shape and weak spades argue against it. However, I know that nobody from outside the British Isles will agree with me.

I'd probably have overcalled 1, a suit where we might actually want to play a 4-3 fit, in contrast to the spade suit. Pass is OK too.

Once we've passed on the first round, the arguments for 1 are even stronger. Partner knows that I don't have five, so what can I have but a good four-card suit? Double should surely show more equal majors than this. My second choice is 1NT, which would also be a better overall description than double.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

4333-14 pass first round. Now opponents quitting at 1D, try 1H. Just entering the auction tells partner some stuff so he can try 1S on his 5xS if not liking H. Both Majors are unclaimed by opponents, so likely ours.

Might not a second round overcall show a reasonable hand with a bad five-card suit.
