I think about the worst hand I can construct for partner is

Kxx
Ax(x)
(x)
AKQxxxx

Even opposite this, I think 5 has better play than 3N, and there are good chances for 6 if partner holds 3 aces which seems pretty likely since he should at least have clubs & hearts for his minimum bid.

I'll make a move forward, but confess I don't know which.

by agreement the stiff diamond, solid clubs, and two outside primes are exactly what I expect. 4D (kk for diamonds) will discover if we should be in 5 or 6 diamonds

Only if 3NT promises the A

What do you rebid with

KJx
AJx
A
KQJxxx

If you don't think that is too much for 3 then remove one of the major spots and add an extra club.

Cascade, that is too much for 3c, yes. but with the agreement that 1C-1D-3NT shows solid clubs, stiff Diamond and outside primes, you still have 1H, if agreed as 1/1D/1 unbal and forcing one round. Or jump shift in major which in 2/1 partner is unlikely to have. One diamond started out as a catchall, denying a major unless game force and denying an 8-10 bal nt response.
