Scoring: MP

MP's
Opps didn't bid. You play a contract of 7 and LHO starts A and a small for your Q.
What is the percentage play in and how will you play them?
(I did misbid and misplay this hand. Hopefully some beginner (and I) can learn something from it).

I think I'd play East for the Q. Apparently West underlead his K instead of a trump. With Qxx, K, A, he might well have doubled. This makes me more inclined to put the Q with East, or at least West with Qx (since trump would otherwise be a safer exit than diamonds).

I'm going to lead up to the K. If the T appears, I'll play the K and hook for the Q on the way back. If it doesn't, I'll play for the drop (which is the normal play with this trump holding).

Umm.. Don't reach grand off an outside ace, the queen of trumps and the king of your sidesuit?

The percentage play for no losers is cash the Ace first, in case the suit is 4-0 with 4 on the left (you can't do anything about QTxx on your right).

BTW "misbid" is already in past tense. (And it is not usual to use I did+verb, unless you especially want to accentuate the truth of the sentence)
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I did that exact thing yesterday when partner decided not to respond to my Keycard ask, and instead showed a void...

In MP scoring, you cannot take the percentage play in spades when you are in the grand on these cards. You have to play something anti-percentage and hope to tie someone.

The question is how radical. I've played idiot slams before (shocker) where I have to assume four actually gets set and then played the contract on that basis if I find a line for down one in 6 with these assumptions.

This seems relatively safe that 6 will be bid. So, you can just play spades anti-percentage. Most will 8-ever-nine-never. So, maybe a simple hook.

And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

With 4 on our left, given that we have all the x's then the 4 is from QT7x and we will always have a trump loser.

The %-age play in the spade suit needs several factors taken into account since we are in 7. Like Ken suggested, we need to equal with the field who are in maybe 4/5/6. It's a bit complicated since trying to cater for people in 4/5/6 takes quite a bit of time. I'll neglect 4S since that has high chances of making and if it goes off then we're going to have a hard time in 7S trying to get a decent score.
Assuming the other tables are going to get a red suit lead they will probably try and set up diamonds sometimes losing 1C,1D and hopefully 1S for people in 5S as they'll probably play spades starting from Ace and hoping for 2-2. People in 6S I am hoping they will also start off with SA and meet a 1-3 break with Qxx on their right. In that case, I think I will play a spade to the King and hope the stiff T is on my left and hook RHO's Queen.

LHO had Qxx.
Finessing in iso playing for 2-2 would have given a rather average score iso a bad score.
