Over 3♣ I would have bid either 4♦ showing diamonds and a major or 4♣ showing any two-suiter, depending on my agreements.
Edit: I have also played a third option: 4♦ as both majors and 4♣ as diamonds + a major.

I would also have shown a two suiter. If you really stick me in this position I make the value bid of 6♦.
