Here's a hand from a Swiss Team event this weekend:

IMPS
Flight A
Last board of a seven board match
You and the opponents are both sitting in the middle of the field
You and partner are playing 2/1 (You're not a well established partnership)

You're feeling pretty bad about the match because

Partner thought you were playing transfers after

1N - 2
2 - 4

You didn't think you were playing transfers in that sequence
(If the Hearts had broken 3-3, you wouln't have felt nearly so bad)

The rest of the boards feel pretty flat

Partner deals and opens 1

You're sitting on

xxx
Kx
AJT9xx
xx

You start with a forcing NT, planning to rebid 2 over 2 or pass 2.

Partner jumps to 3N, so its time to find a new plan, Stan...

If I were me I'd say "WTP" and pass.

But since I'm you, and I want to make up for the Extended Texas mixup, I guess I blast to 6NT. I'd probably rather be in , but there's no way to get that played from partner's side to protect black kings.

If you think you're behind, 6NT. It has enough upside for me to give it a shot.

If I'm even tho, I pass comfortably.

I'll bet 6 is ice played from partner's side... 6 may be also, but it seems that there is no way to get partner to declare that... I think that since we are down in the match, I'll bid 6. If we were not down, this is a WTP pass.
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

Why would we pass 3N ever with a heart fit and a prime hand. I would probably cuebid 4D.

Pass. Or 6 or 6 or 6NT. Nope, Pass.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

I would bid 4, but I'm less confident its a cue. To me, 3N shows a balanced or semi-balanced hand and there's no reason diamonds can't be in play.

I'm sounding like Rexford, but I think 4 sets hearts as trump.

So, here's the rest of the story...

As a few people surmised, I decided to roll the dice on this one and blasted 6N
Partner ended up tabling a somewhat disappointing

AQJ
xxxxx
KQ
AKxx

However, the bridge gods were smiling on us...

The Jack of Spades held on the opening lead and the King of Hearts was onside.
The opponents were not amused when I started running Diamonds.
SO not amused

You'd better sacrifice some virgins to them 'cause this falls on the miracles cathegory. Good for you.
