All NV at IMPs you hold:

AQJxx
AKQx
Kx
AQ

You open 2, LHO bids 3 passed back to you. You have no agreements about partner's pass. Your bid?

I'm inclined to double. Probably wrong. :-)

Double, what else?

Wins when partner has penalty or major. Loses only when he has clubs and I should be declaring 3NT.

I must admit that I prefer 3S. I think those who think partner can pass a x of 3D are optimistic to say the least. 3S at least has the advantage of protection the DK. May not be best and I suspect that X will be a high majority choice, but I think 3S is better.

I would double, showing a balanced hand.

Funnily enough, exactly this auction came up not so long ago and I had exactly this shape and doubled. Partner had an easy pass looking at a 2344 1-count with J10xx diamonds and we took 800. (We play double of 3D as showing some values and pass as nothing or penalties.)

Agree with Frances. It's nil vul, I'll be happy taking the money if partner is broke (which seems very likely).

I would go with the X, but really do not feel there is that much in it between X and 3?
bridge is never always a game of exact, for those times it's all about percentages, partner and the opponents.
