Scoring: IMP

Bidding starts (with silent opponents):

1-1
1

1 was forcing and showed an unbalanced hand.
Among many alternatives my partner choose, for better or worse, to bid 4.

Opener (I) persevered with 4NT, showing 3 aces. A few mandatory cuebids were exchanged, before a 5-cue was doubled by his LHO, and I redoubled, showing first round control.

The bidding so far:

1-1
1-4
4NT - 5
5 - 5 (X)
XX - ????

Now my partner choose to bid 5, foreseeing handling problems, which there were.

What a chance he had!!!, to be dealt such a hand on the first of April. He could simply have passed 5XX. It would have made me fall on the floor, to be dumped in my void-showing redouble.

I had:

Scoring: IMP

I raised to 6, which made with both majors breaking, but 5XX is a much better contract, and actually yeilds 1600, as the J comes down in two rounds.

We should always assume 2/1 unless otherwise stated, because:

- If the original poster didn't bother to state his system, that means that he thinks it's obvious what he's playing. The only people who think this are 2/1 players.
