OK I'm going to file a complaint, posting a hand like this is inappropriate.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

2N. And, no, I'm not happy about it. 2nd choice is to put a diamond in with my hearts and tell that particular lie instead, but whatever. They don't always lead diamonds on this auction if you bid quickly and confidently, so whatever you do, don't think.

2NT seems fair. Not ideal, but liveable.

I bid 2. Even if it's supposed to have a club fit, if partner bids hearts, notrump, even spades, then I probably found a better place to play.

Josh, I think we rather play in clubs than spades, partner ain't bidding 2 with 4 good spades and 5 clubs.

2 is a strong alternative to 2NT anyway. But I like 2NT because it defines our hand right here and we don't have to make any further decision later.

If they are strong enough most of my partners would dbl with 2 places to play.

So partner would be single suited (probably weak) and my chances to find a better spot are small.

So I would pass and bid 2 over dbl.

Most of my good partners won't double 1 with two places to play.

I always rant against the idea that the overcall should show a fit. But with the given method, I would try 2 NT. I will stop diamonds after a while.
Kind Regards

Roland

You can't really pass with this hand opposite a 2 level overcall at vuln. IMPs.
Of course, things can easily get outta hand, but I'll try a 2 cue; I'm really hoping for a bid, but I'll raise 2nt to 3nt and pass 3 or 2.

You wanna bet? Pass seems clear cut to me.

I'm not at all confident that a diamond lead would be best for the opponents, I have no problem bidding 2N.

Is that 65432? Even the 7 might be valuable!

I try 2. I have great respect for partner's 2-level overcalls.

I would bid 2. I would not try to play in spades, but hearts, no trump, and clubs all seem possible. Would definitely want to know diamond spots and partner's style before deciding if I will let him/her out below game.

I will pass, particularly as partner overcalled 1D and this can be light. By the way, I agree with Roland - I definitely would not bid 2C with 5C and 4 good S.

Lets see. I can bid 2NT without a stopper, or I can Q 2 and hope P has a Major, or I can pass. So all are flawed but with a possible misfit Pass seems best. And, I may get a chance to bid later.

Interesting thread. I doubt I would have thought of 2 at the table. I like it.

I'd definitely bid with this hand. 2 or 2NT.
Kind regards,
Harald
