With Arend I play that his double shows 4-5 spades and my double shows 3 spades. With my best partner I play double shows clubs (Just kidding Arend!).
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

It seems normal to play the double as being like a club rebid, showing a real club suit (either six cards or five very good ones). On the given auction I would pass, having already shown my extra club length and heard partner fail to act over 2.

With my best partner, I've apparently already psyched a strong club opening (I'm about a king light) so it's hard to say what I would do at this point. B)

I usually play the double of 2 as a takeout double of hearts, so something like a 3145 shape.

If double showed good clubs, you have done everything you were put on this earth to do, and should now pass.

I would have opened this hand 1NT.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

With my best partner I would have opened this hand with a precision 2 or maybe 1NT.

Playing standard methods, assuming the 2 bid shows a good heart raise, dbl shows good/long clubs. I would assume it to be both lead directing (good clubs) and competitive (long clubs) but maybe it is better to have a less strict requirements.

Anyway, I pass now.

Partners dbl over 1 was neg. and promised 4's and 's, my dbl has shown good and long clubs (with a weak to average opening).
I bid 2 now and partner knows that I don't have 4 of them, because I did not bid them last round.

Partner made a negative double which shows exactly 4 spades 98% of the time (there are always some hands that don't fit nicely into any particular bid, hence the 2%).

RHO made a strong raise. My double says that I would have bid 2 if RHO had not acted.

I would probably bid 2 now and not let them play in 2. My spades cannot be much better than they are. We could easily be making 9 tricks in spades - partner could hold something like AJxx in spades and Qx(x) in clubs. And we might have 5 tricks against hearts - 5 black tricks or 4 black tricks and a red trick (partner has Qxx of hearts?). I am not too worried about the opps bidding a game that they would not normally reach but for my showing a spade fit.

This is XIMPs. If we sell out to 2 and both sides can make 8 tricks we are losing 6 IMPs. The same goes for regular IMPs.

In fairness to those who passed, the opponents are very relevant here. Versace and Lauria are well known for being very light for strong-sounding raises of partner, I have seen it from them many times.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

They are also known for being very light overcallers in the first place.

Yes, they have a general style of sounding like they have a LOT more strength than they actually hold. It is very effective at changing the entire feel of the auction for the opponents.

Would have balanced 3. 2 crossed my mind, but I don't think this is the right time for it...
