♠ T
♥ 85
♦ AKJ942
♣ AQ82
And you hear this auction:
(P) - P - (1♠) - 2♦
(2♥) - P - (3♣) - P
(3♦) - X - (P) - P
(4♥) - P - (P) - ?

If partner couldn't raise to 3♦ we have no chance on making 5♦.
for 5♦ to be a good sacrifice we should be sure that we are not defeating 4♥ and we are not sure. we could score 3 tricks to start with and ♦A for example.
Pass and hope for the best.

I think that X is much better then 5♦ but I would simply pass.

Agree completely. I pass, but have more sympathy for double than 5♦.

4♥ is probably down if partner holds ♠A or ♥A or ♥K, but this is enough to make 5♦ a reasonable contract.
If 4♥ makes I want to be in 5♦ and if it does not make I want to be in 5♦ because it very often makes.
I'll bid 5♦.

♦Qx is the standard meaning, isn't it?
I pass.
I have no idea what the responder is doing, but I "see" three tricks for us already.
One diamond (two is unlikely), two clubs, one more to go.
Partner can very well have a trick in hearts.

Bidding 5D when partner couldnt raise to 3D (or bid 5D himself over 4H) is sheer lunacy.
I would have bid 3D over 3C, however.
So many experts, not enough X cards.
