Spent a four hour lunch today sitting down and filling out a cc with someone who was one of the original Walsh players. Some things I never knew:
4-5 minor reverses are GF. Yeah; I couldn't believe it either. Some interesting ways to bid this hand she suggested:
--With a minimum 4-5; open 1C and rebid 1N / raise pard's major with 3;
--With a 16-18 4-5, open 1♦ and rebid 2C. Over pard's expected false preference:
------2H with 1345; 2S with 3145 (no good stop), 2N with 3145 / 2245 good stop.
With 19+; reverse.
So, no need for Ingberman or anything else.
She was less clear about minor / major reverses.
This is all news to me, but she says the diehard Walsh players still bid this way.

you mean 1♣-1♠-2♦ is GF?, wow.
Many people around here play that 1♣-1♦-2♦ is strong, dunno if it has much to do with that.
opening 1♦ with 4-5 is also common, but not with 16-17
