Not related to BBO software, but I know that Fred reads these messages, so ...
The installation program for the "learn to play bridge" series is not very Vista-friendly, I think. Could just be me but I have installed it on more than one Vista machine with the same feature noticed:
It installs fine, but Vista thinks otherwise. You get a message after installation, issued by the operating system, warning that it did not install correctly. You then get an option to ignore that message, which you do and everything works normally.
If someone as illiterate in computers as they are in Bridge were to do this they may be unduly concerned.

He also reads the "Support for Bridge Base Products" forum, I'm sure.

Thanks for the report, Jack.
Where did you get the setup.exe that was causing this problem for you? It sounds like an old version.

Hi - sorry I overlooked the support for BB products forum. Feel free to shift the thread.
I first came across the product ltpb from this thread
http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?sho...ndpost&p=343133
So I clicked on the ACBL links and ended up here:
http://web.acbl.org/LearnToPlayBridge/
This downloaded a couple of Zip files
ltpb1.zip, file size 1819378 bytes
ltpb2.zip, file size 2016377 bytes
Each extracts to a single installation file:
ltpb1setup.exe, file size 1865951 bytes
ltpb2setup.exe, file size 2062482 bytes
In each case the file version from the properties is stated as 5.0.1.0
Date last modified is 08 February 2009 but I doubt that means anything as it coincides with the date of the other post in BBF that led me to the download link.

Thanks for the details.
It does sound like you are downloading a recent version, but it is kind of strange that ACBL distributes these things in the form of .zip files. Not sure why (and not sure if that might be the cause of Vista acting strangely).
Anyways, this is the first I have heard of this problem and the LTPB programs are downloaded many many 1000s of times per year so I doubt the problem is widespread. We also use the same program for generating setup files for all the other (dozens) of software products that we have made (including the installer for the Windows BBO client).
I am about to go away for a week, but I will look into this further when I get home.
